Peter Kiiza
Dr. Peter Kiiza is a research fellow with the University of Toronto and based at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre. He earned a medical degree from Gulu University, Uganda, a Post Graduate East African Diploma in Tropical Medicine and Hygiene from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine and currently pursuing a Masters of Public Health in Global Epidemiology. He worked for the World Health Organization during the 2014- 2016 Ebola Virus Disease Outbreak in West Africa as a consultant and technical officer for the Ebola Case Management and disease Surveillance teams. He has over a 5 years’ front-line experience in responding to Viral Haemorrhagic Fever outbreaks in Uganda, Sierra Leone and Liberia, where he provided clinical care to patients and trained national teams in case management and disease surveillance. He has co-edited a number of national clinical training materials and guidelines for management of epidemic prone illnesses. His research focuses on establishing practical guidance for safe, feasible and advanced critical care to patients suffering from highly infectious diseases in low and middle income settings.
