Invited speakers are those who have been invited by a track chair to give a presentation.
Abstract presenters (plenary, lightning oral, moderated poster, and poster) have been selected to present their research as part of the CAEP 2019 Abstract Competition.

Presentation Information

Please submit your presentation slides to your track chair by May 1, 2019.
We are still accepting speaker videos – please send us a quick clip explaining why you’re excited about #CAEP19. Click here to view previous submissions.

Technical Requirements

  • Speakers must bring their own laptop for their presentation.
  • If you do not have access to a laptop, you can borrow one from the AV tech located in the hall outside the track rooms (please arrange this ahead of time as there is only one spare computer available).
  • Presentations on iPads or Notebooks are not compatible with data projection.
  • If you are using a Mac computer you will also need to bring your own adapter for the projector.
  • PowerPoint presentations should be in the 16:9 format.

Accreditation Requirements

  • We have provided a template PowerPoint for you to use, which is recommended but not required. If you choose to use your own PowerPoint template, you must still include the learning objectives and slide #1 disclosure at the start.
  • For accreditation purposes, you must:
    1. Include the following at the beginning of your presentation:
      • Slide #1 disclosure form – Slide 1 is included by everyone (write “none” if there are no conflicts to declare). The disclosure must also be addressed verbally at the start of your talk.
      • Learning objectives
    2. Use generic rather than trade names of medications and/or devices within all presentations and written materials.
    3. Submit your presentation slides to your track chair by May 1, 2019.

Day-of Reminders                    

  • You are required to formally register for the event as a speaker. If you have not already done this, please email speakers@caep.ca to ensure there are no delays upon your arrival at conference.
  • We ask that you show up to your room 15 minutes prior to meet with your track chair and review your presentation. You will need to pick up your conference badge from the registration desk prior to your talk.
  • There won’t be a speaker ready room, but there will be an AV tech located in the hallway outside the track room should you require any assistance with your presentation. As well, you can always locate CAEP staff at the registration desk or at the CAEP booth in the exhibit hall.

Conflict of Interest Forms

All speakers, track chairs, moderators, and panel participants MUST submit the two COI forms to speakers@caep.ca by Monday, February 25. This is a requirement for our accreditation application and there are no exceptions.

Lightning Oral Presentation Information - Research Track

  • Lightning orals are scheduled for 10 minutes total (7 minutes presentation, 3 minutes Q & A)
  • We ask that you show up to your room 15 minutes prior to meet with the moderator and review your presentation.
  • Presenters are required to bring their PowerPoint presentation on a USB key, which will be loaded on a main laptop prior to the session.
  • Presentations on Keynote are not compatible with data projection.
  • For accreditation purposes, you must include the following at the start of your presentation:
    • Slide #1 disclosure form – Slide 1 is included by everyone (write “none” if there are no conflicts to declare),
  • The research track moderator will be responsible for addressing overall learning objectives for all the presenters.
  • Presenters are encouraged (but not required) to use CAEP’s template presentation, available here.
  • If you are not using the CAEP presentation template, the slide #1 disclosure form must still be included.
  • It is recommended that PowerPoint slides be limited to 5, including the title/disclosure slide.
  • PowerPoint presentations should be in the 16:9 format.

Lightning Oral Presentation Information - Embedded Abstract

  • Lightning orals are scheduled for 10 minutes total (7 minutes presentation, 3 minutes Q & A)
  • Embedded abstract presenters must bring their own laptop for their presentation. If you do not have access to one, you can borrow a laptop from the AV tech located in the hall outside the track rooms (please arrange this ahead of time as there is only one spare computer available).
  • Presentations on iPads or Notebooks are not compatible with data projection.
  • If you are using a Mac computer you will also need bring your own adapter for the projector.

Moderated Poster Presentation Information

Presentation Format

  • Attendees will move from poster to poster in the topic group while each presenter has 8 minutes total (5 minutes for synopsis, 3 minutes for Q & A).
  • Please be in your area to meet with your moderator twenty minutes before the time your poster is scheduled. You are expected to stay in the session for the other moderated poster presentations.
  • Moderators will critique poster presentations. You must be present with your poster during the scheduled discussion time. You are encouraged to be with your poster during the entire poster session.

  • You may provide handouts of bibliography, abstract, tables, lists, etc.

Registration

Abstract presenters are responsible for their own costs associated with participation, including travel, accommodation and conference registration. Presenters are extended the early rate but are expected to register for conference by Thursday, April 11, 2019 in order to ensure that the presentation is listed in the conference program.
