Track 5 - SONOlympiad Finale
Track Chair: Dr. Paul Olszynski

Description: This gameshow-styled event will include qualifying rounds for our 8 team with multiple skill-testing stations where the top 3 teams move on compete the next day in the grand finale where audience members will be able to interact with our panel of judges, hosts, and resident competitors as they compete for the SONO Cup!

Learning Objectives
By the end of this session, paritipants will be able to:

  1. Be familiar with the state of emergency ultrasound education, research and advanced training opportunities within Canada’s broader EM community.
  2. Explore both basic and advanced applications through an innovative and interactive forum that includes image interpretation and clinical integration for both our competing residents and our audience.
  3. Develop a greater appreciation for the clinical applicability of emergency ultrasound in emergency medicine practice.

We are enthusiastically preparing the following format for #CAEP19:

Qualifying Rounds – Sunday, 16:30 – 18:00

We’ll set up skill challenge stations, where each team will confront several stations, and the top 3 scoring teams will advance to the finale.

SONOlympiad Finale – Track 5, Monday 10:45 – 10:15

The finale will be 80 minutes of high impact learning and emergency ultrasound pearls wrapped up in gameshow edutainment. This year, the final top 2 teams will square off in our Escape Room challenge!

The majority of questions will be from the CAEP Emergency Ultrasound Curriculum (core and strongly encouraged electives) as well as procedural guidance (broadly).
