Volunteer Positions

Qualities we are looking for in all volunteers: enthusiasm, friendliness and willingness to help. We want our volunteers to mingle with conference delegates, offer assistance, and, most importantly, enjoy themselves!

For every shift completed, volunteers will be allowed to attend the conference complimentary for the equivalent of the time they volunteer (1/2 day volunteered = 1/2 day complimentary conference attendance, 1 1/2 days volunteered = 1 1/2 days complimentary conference attendance).

Volunteers will also receive meals during their shift, and a t-shirt.

If you are interested in volunteering, forward your name, availability availability (specifically, which dates, and total number of half days you would like to volunteer), email address, cell phone # and t-shirt size to Charles Wong.

Pre-conference Jobs • Friday, May 25 & Saturday, May 26

AIME – May 25 & May 26 [POSITIONS FILLED]
CAEP’s Airway Interventions & Management in Emergencies (AIME) program is designed for acute care health professionals. Airway management is an ‘advanced’ procedure which involves much more than the simple placement of an endotracheal tube. Decisions of when and why to intubate, by which method, with or without pharmacologic adjuncts, and what to do if things go wrong, must be made quickly and confidently.

Volunteers will assist with welcoming participants, registration, etc. These volunteers will have the unique opportunity to observe this excellent course in return for their services.

Emergency Medicine Review (EMR – ACT III) – May 25 & May 26  [POSITIONS FILLED]
Emergency Medicine Review (EMR) is a robust program made up of concise, focused chapters with key concepts and core information. The program provides a simple model to guide effective EM teaching and draws upon previous ambulatory care teaching models and recent research in the Canadian EM community.

Volunteers must be available for both days, and will assist with welcoming participants, registration, etc. These volunteers will have the unique opportunity to observe this excellent course in return for their services.

Early Registration Desk – May 26
Volunteers will help register delegates, hand out name tags, and provide information.

Academic Symposium on Leadership – May 26
Volunteers will help with the symposium registration desk and take pictures of the event.

Conference Jobs • Sunday, May 27 - Wednesday, May 30

Concurrent Sessions
Two volunteers will be assigned to each room for a half-day or a full-day shift. For the 10 minutes before the presentations begin and the 5 -10 minute breaks between lectures, one volunteer will stand outside their assigned room inviting delegates into their room, reminding delegates to complete the session evaluation through the conference app, promoting the upcoming presentation and asking people to silence cell phones. The second volunteer will be there to lend support to the presenter if needed. Volunteers will not need detailed AV experience but will be taught how the power point presentations are loaded and launched from the desktop. There will be AV technicians to help where needed.

All volunteers starting in the morning will be expected to attend the morning plenary session in addition to the scientific track to which they are assigned.

Hallway Monitors
Volunteers will walk around the hallways helping delegates with their questions.

Registration Desk
Volunteers will help register delegates, hand out name tags, and provide information.

Social Events
Volunteers are need for the Welcome Event (May 27).
